Last night, I had too much of a good thing and I couldn’t stop myself. With every moment, I wanted more and felt guilty because I knew I shouldn’t have force myself. Sometimes when temptation hits, I just go for it…you know, YOLO! I sure know how to indulge, but I’m definitely paying for it later. I was such a naughty girl…

As you all know by now, I love eating and All You Can Eat BBQ is no exception. My friend celebrated her birthday last night with this indulgence and of course I couldn’t resist saying no. When you’re in new relationship, you may want to have others spoil or cater you because you feel you deserve it. At work, you may think that you worked hard and should treat yourself. However, there is such thing as “too much of a good thing”.

Here are some tips to stop overindulging:

  • Don’t be selfish: Look, just because it’s all you can eat doesn’t mean you have to be greedy. Take what will keep you satisfied, but remember that there are other people to consider as well.
  • Take a breather: It’s good to take breaks whether it’s from people, work, hobbies, eating, etc. As extroverted as I am, I admit that we do all need some time alone. We can’t constantly be going so just chill or you’ll burnout.
  • Determine what is negotiable or nonnegotiable: Is there something that you HAVE TO have or can do you do without? Determine what you can do without and splurge on it occasionally.
  • Stay healthy: Always be conscious of your health because you don’t want to become weak. Whether it’s doing too much for your work or simply catering towards your significant other, make sure to take care of yourself first.
  • Setting expectations: You should have expectations to meet, but you cannot demand something that is unreasonable. Make sure you talk this over with your boss, significant other, etc to find what is realistic and be able to compromise.
  • Have a good routine: They say to wake up at the same time every day, even if it’s the weekend. If not, it can totally throw you off. While you want to be spontaneous, some things are better with a set routine so you know what to expect. That will also ease some of the stress you may experience from trying to figure everything out.
  • Learn how to say no: As tempting as everything is, sometimes you just have to do yourself a favor to say no. Whether it’s a bonus just to stay at your current job, or an engagement ring that’s too big for your finger, you don’t have to accept everything just because it’s tempting or excess.

So as I sit here on my bed not wanting to move after over indulging (they had smores at the end too!), I am telling you to learn from my mistakes. Yeah… shouldn’t have taken that last bite…
